Koi Pond Installation
Northville, MI
This project, a winner in the Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association’s Industry Awards Program, through the addition of a contemporary koi pond, was designed to create a tranquil outdoor retreat while complimenting the home’s classic architecture.
The koi pond was strategically placed within the landscape, serving as a striking focal point from the homeowner’s bedroom while maintaining harmony with the traditional elements of the home. Its modern design with clean lines and natural stone, integrates seamlessly into the existing outdoor environment. The pond will not only provide a serene atmosphere but also foster a connection with nature, attracting various wildlife and promoting biodiversity.
Surrounding the pond, thoughtfully designed landscaping included classic gravel pathways that connect existing portions of the homeowners prized rose gardens, and various seating spaces for the homeowner to enjoy their new space from various vantage points. Plantings were kept to a minimal to allow the pond to be the main focal point. The use of clouded boxwoods and formal columnar oak provides a perimeter planting that pulls the surrounding landscape into the new space.
